Ironstone Derby 5K 2019

Yee-Haw! MVS celebrated the Kentucky Derby at Ironstone Farm for the Ironstone Derby 5k.

The party kicked off at 2pm starting with lawn games, the band Cilantro, and beer, wine and mint juleps. At 4:30, with beautiful weather and a relatively flat route ahead, the 5k race started.

Some of our very own Striders who placed include Alex Smirnou in 3rd place overall, Joshua Pelletier in 1st place in his division, and Margaret Sifferlen in 2nd in her division.

Following the race, the party continued! Texas Roadhouse catered a delicious barbecue dinner that runner’s enjoyed before watching a horse-and-rider show, meeting Red Sox legend Jim Rice, competing in (or just admiring) the Derby hat contest, and of course cheering on horses during a live viewing of the Kentucky Derby. Congrats to all the Striders who earned another iron runner series point at the Ironstone Derby 5k!
