Race Recap

33rd Annual Feaster Five Road Race: Virtual Edition

And Super Iron Runner Series Conclusion

By Julia Hardy

This week saw the kickoff of the Feaster Five Road Race’s first virtual experience. Organized and promoted by the Merrimack Valley Striders Feaster Five Organizing and Marketing Committees, the event began on Monday, November 23rd, and concluded on Sunday, November 29th.

Participants were given the opportunity to walk or run three different options: 5K, 5 miles, or a combination of both in the 13K Challenge. As of Wednesday, November 25th, the event had nearly 1900 registered participants from 46 states, 410 cities, and 5 different countries. Entrants were able to partake on their own or as part of a team, the largest of these teams being the Merrimack Valley Striders with 132 members.

This virtual run was also the conclusion of the 2020 Super Iron Runner Series. While the series definitely looked different this year than from years prior after the Bradford Valentine’s Race, if the enthusiastic selfies on the Facebook accountability threads throughout the year were any indication, runners and walkers alike certainly made the best of it.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Feaster Five: Virtual Edition, and stay tuned for more information on what next year’s Super Iron Runner Series might look like! More details to come from the SIRS Organizing Committee.
